Testimonial:

My previous dentist told me I had to have a root canal and there were no other options to save my tooth. Dr. Brand took her time and found that I was able to get a new filling put in and it would not effect the nerve.

Not only was she very knowledgeable but friendly and she put me at ease.

Our health is our future and Dr. Brand truly cares about overall wellness.

Laser Dentistry

What is a laser?

A laser is a high tech devise that generates a tiny beam of very concentrated light . This beam of light brings energy into your mouth through a tiny fiber, to help remove areas of infection and remove gum disease around the teeth with great precision and accuracy. The laser beam sterilizes the affected area and seals off blood vessels, which minimizes the chance of infection or bleeding. Patients are also much more comfortable during and after treatment with dental laser therapy. The need for local anesthetic is reduced but it is usually used to make sure that you feel absolutely nothing during the treatment.

Lasers have been used in dentistry since 1990. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has determined that lasers can be used as a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of dental procedures. Dental lasers are often used in conjunction with other dental instruments.

Are dental lasers safe?

If the dental laser is used according to accepted practices by a trained practitioner, then it is at least as safe as other dental instruments. However, just as you wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from prolonged exposure to the sun, when your dentist performs a dental laser procedure, you may be asked to wear special eyeglasses to protect your eyes from the dental laser light.

What are the benefits of using dental lasers?

There are several advantages to laser dentistry. Dentists may not need to use a drill or administer anesthesia, allowing the patient to enjoy a more relaxed dental experience. Dental laser procedures can be more precise. Also, dental lasers can reduce symptoms and healing times associated with traditional therapies; reduce the amount of bacteria in both diseased gum tissue and in tooth cavities; and control bleeding during surgery.

The Lasers We Use

Our office has several dental lasers.

Laser Dentistry includes both hard and soft tissue dental lasers that can be used for:

  • Less bleeding

  • Less post-treatment discomfort

  • Expedited healing for herpes and canker sores

  • Increased bond strength for all fillings

  • Sterilizing teeth before filling for a more aseptic seal

I have been using Dr. Brand's services for a few years now. When other dentist have recommended extractions the protocol she recommended allowed me to save my tooth. The home regimen when done right and consistently really heals the gums. I totally recommend the laser gum treatment as an alternative to surgery. It is painless and it is

non-invasive.
